Meet Celia Carstens, creator of Found & Form. Raised amidst the landscapes of the Pacific Northwest, her adoration for nature has long fueled her creativity and artistic pursuits. Through her landscape paintings, she captures the essence of cherished places she has lived and explored – a sentiment echoed in the ethos of Found & Form. By combining her dual passions, Found & Form emerged as a way to bring the rich tapestry of our natural surroundings into the everyday spaces of our home.
Let's get to know Celia and Found & Form
Q: When did you decide that you wanted to enter the world of textile and wallpaper design?
A: Before starting Found & Form, I was working as an interior designer in San Francisco and was yearning for some other form of creativity inmy life. I wanted to get back into my art practice and thought, what if I combined my two passions for interior design and art? Through thisprocess, I've been able to transform my art and designs into a backdrop for people's homes which has been nothing short of amazing.
Q: What do you use for your main source of inspiration and what style do you tend to gravitate towards?
A: My main source of inspiration comes from nature -- either from my surroundings, from my travels or from places I've lived and loved.Similarly, I love mixing natural materials into my home like linen, wool and rattan. My style is definitely eclectic and combines multiple styleelements, but it usually involves a more muted backdrop with pops of color throughout.
Q: What is your favorite pattern you've created to date?
A: While I try not to have favorites, Clover has to be my most cherished pattern. It was the first pattern I designed -- I was sitting out in my backyard and began to sketch the smallest doodle that grew into Clover. I love remembering that moment where it all began.
